Ms. Brown joined Kane, Ballmer & Berkman as an associate in April, 2005 and handles complex multi-million dollar real estate, redevelopment and land use transactions. In addition, she handles transactions which include commercial/retail shopping centers, office, residential (including affordable housing) developments, mixed-use developments, and automobile dealerships.
Ms. Brown’s focus is advising the firm’s clients in all aspects of redevelopment law such as advising on various forms of financing and low- and moderate- income housing issues. In addition, Ms. Brown negotiates and drafts exclusive negotiation agreements, loan agreements disposition and development agreements, owner participation agreements, and purchase and sale agreements.
Prior to joining Kane, Ballmer & Berkman, Ms. Brown served as a law clerk for the Oakland City Attorney’s Office where she focused on a wide variety of public law matters. During this period, Ms. Brown assisted Deputy City Attorneys and City staff with issues concerning redevelopment, the Brown Act, Public Records Act, the First Amendment and Agency Law. During law school, Ms. Brown was a clerk with the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office in the Real Estate and Finance Department.
Ms. Brown is a member of the California Redevelopment Association (CRA) and has conducted a workshop for the CRA relating to the critical elements of the Disposition and Development Agreement and Owner Participation Agreement.
Ms. Brown currently serves as a Commissioner for the City of Monrovia Planning Commission. |
